糸巻き棒（bobbin）を使って制作するボビンレースは、16世紀初めにフランドル地方、イタリアで時期を同じくして行われるようになったと考えられています。作り方は、ピロウと呼ばれる織り台の上に置かれたデザインに沿ってボビンを交差させながらピンを打ち、模様を織り上げていきます。英国には“おもり”として末端にビーズが取り付けられたボビンがあり、道具としても大変美しいものです

Bobbin Lace, it is said that it began about sixteen century in Flanders and Italy. It is worked with wound thread bobbins and pins on a pillow. Two basic movements the cross and the twist are used progressively.
English bobbin has beads attached called spangle as a weight to keep threads at constant tension.
They look very impressive.
